We at St. Andrew’s celebrated our 68th Republic Day with reverence and  pride. Pride in the fact that our Nation has advanced since 1950, the year we first celebrated our Republic Day. The students from both the Primary and the Secondary section assembled in the school quadrangle. Msgr. Alex Rebello. ex-Principal of our school in 1981-82  ( now shifted base temporarily to London, on request by the Church in UK)  was the Chief Guest. Msgr. Alex Rebello was glad and humbly stated that he was honoured to be invited and given an opportunity to hoist the Indian tri-colour. Msgr. Alex Rebello’s words of wisdom were both inspirational and thought provoking. He urged the students to respect their mother and their motherland, Msgr. explained that just as the rainbow forms from a myriad of seven colours, we too with our different religious beliefs, cultures and traditions need to stay united to form the beautiful rainbow that brings happiness to the one sighting it. Our students kept us entertained with their dances, patriotic songs and skits. The efforts and the training imparted to them by their teachers could be felt through the power packed performances. Our Principal, Fr. Magi Murzello thanked the Chief Guest, teachers and all students for making the Day a truly patriotic one. The celebration ended with Fr. Magi giving us all a surprise- a long weekend holiday. God Bless you Fr. Magi!
